About Caroline Broad, Broad Associates

Who I am, what I do, why...

carolinebroadI’m Caroline Broad, and I’ve been running Broad Associates Ltd since 2012.

Why?

Simply, because I love to help. I love to see the positive effects of what I do. I love to see the change in people, in teams, in businesses – I love to see teams change from “Urgh, let’s just try and make it through the day” to “Yes! Another exciting day at work! Let’s do this!”

belbinI’ve got strong emotional intelligence, backed-up by the fact I’m a certified Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) practioner. I’m also Belbin Team Roles accredited, and am trained and experienced in Co-active coaching, facilitation, training development and delivery, knowledge management and requirements engineering.

Apart from growing my own vegetables and owning a campervan called ‘Nerys’, here’s a potted history…

  • Senior Knowledge Management (KM) Specialist for Bio-Science Company, MedImmune – creating and implementing scientific KM strategy and embedding improved processes across multinational sites
  • Programme Manager for educational charity, CRAC – designing and delivering skills development training to post-graduates
  • Human Resources Officer for telecommunications engineering company, part of the TTP Group

I set-up Broad Associates in 2012 to make the most of my eighteen years’ experience facilitating teams and delivering technical and transferrable skills training. The fact I work with a great range of different people for different organisations really helps me to keep on learning and delivering a better and better service.

To chat about how I could help you, just give me a call – 07582 888137.

What matters most to you?

My family, the environment, common courtesy and being a part of something where I feel that I’m making a difference.

Why are you the right person for the job?

I’ve always had strong business acumen and a strong emotional intelligence and I saw the opportunity to bring 19 years of experience together to develop a service and a set of products that can make a perceptible difference.

I am committed to developing individuals and teams, but always in the context of delivering value to the business. This comes by establishing a culture where teams and departments will work to their best abilities, reaching company objectives more efficiently. Ensuring quality and reducing time wasted on bad processes, mis communication, and under motivated staff.

Why is communication and collaboration the focus of your delivery?

If you have teams who are working well together, you reduce stress.

If you have individuals who are using their strengths well, they feel personally satisfied, which supports staff retention and motivation.

If these individuals are effectively sharing information and knowledge they become better problem solvers and you reduce duplication of effort.

Who are your associates?

I work with a number of experienced skills trainers. Including my Dad, Geoff, who delivers a presentation skills masterclass to senior managers, incorporating this many years experience as a managing director.

I have a network of 30 strong trusted trainers who will deliver larger workshops and facilitate on my residential courses.

What makes you happy?

Going away in Nerys – our campervan. It used to be organising parties but nowerdays it’s more a nice dinner and a walk by the river in Ely – where I live. I lov helping people. Making people smile and feel good about themselves. Having a sense that I have contributed and have added value.

What frustrates you?

People who don’t listen. People who don’t search for the positive or accept that everyone is different. If we all start with open-mindedness and respect and we do our best to pay objective attention, then more positives can be created. Of course, there is always going to be situations and people who, no matter hard you try, it just won’t work out.

How do you deliver value?

I work with individuals and groups to understand the current frustrations and problems. I develop interactive workshops that incorporate their expertise so that they better understand their core business behaviour skills to utilise them to reach their objectives. Develop their products, services or processes in a thorough, considered, effective way. But also, feel more satisfied, supported and confident.

Why did you go into business for yourself?

I started my entrepreneurial adventure in 2011. I was on a workshop, working through a five year plan and it suddenly came to me! This was something I wanted to do for myself. My goals had always been about lifestyle and traveling and when the thought came to me, there was no question I was going to make it happen.

What is your goal with Broad Associates?

My immediate focus is enable long lasting change in businesses, so that individuals and teams are best placed to achieve their goals?

I work with businesses who are committed to creating an environment and developing their staff so they can be the best they can be. The focus is developing excellent communication, effective teams and efficient processes.
